Hello Blogging community, I've decided it's time to start blogging about my life….writing life that is. It's funny when you think about everything a struggling mom writer will actually do just to earn money or work. Yes, it is true, not all of us struggling mom writers are actually struggling to get paid, but to actually write. We want our work seen, whether or not we get the credit. We want to get paid. Can you really blame us? It doesn't matter if it's "Chump Change" or big dollar markets, we want MONEY.
Here, I'll touch a bit on the mom writer life, the ins and outs of working with kids under foot, a hubby to feed or trying to make deadlines and still make it to sporting events, get to school on time or even PTA meetings. Yes, it can all be done.
Does this mean that I sit at home on my butt all day? Ummm, kind of, but not really. I sit on my butt in front of a computer typing away, searching for jobs, reading emails, updating a website, chatting with editors and blogging. However, this doesn't mean I don't go outside in the nice sunlight and play in the garden with my two year old. It doesn't mean I'm camped in front of the television set watching soaps either. (maybe at one point but no longer) My daughter has control of the television and when she's not watching it we play with barbie dolls, play house or dig in the dirt. Yes, I am a mom, but I'm also a writer.
I have two other children that are at school during the day, a 3rd grader and one in grade K. Once, home I'm Homework mom. Jobs are put on hold and dinner is being made, if I don't burn it. Quietly after I've tucked them all in and said good night to hubby, I sneak downstairs and get online to finish any jobs I have to meet with a deadline and then search for more.
